NetWare Server

NetWare Connect, Netware MultiProtocol Router, LAN Workplace

Modem description files on a NetWare server are placed in a subdirectory accessible to NLMTM (NetWare Loadable ModuleTM) files. At present, there are two such products on NetWare servers: NetWare® ConnectTM software and NetWare MultiProtocol RouterTM software.

NetWare Server

1. Copy the AIOZYP.MDC file into SYS:SYSTEM\AIO directory.

NOTE:
When AIO is loaded, it searches this subdirectory for files with the extension MDC (*.MDC). AIO then creates a list of all modem names defined in these files and which file contains the description for each. When one of the NetWare Connect services attempts a modem operation on a port, AIO determines which modem is attached to that port and ensures that the modem's description has been read into memory. AIO then starts the execution of the operation using the service's request parameters and the modem description.

NOTE: Do not modify or replace any MDC files while AIO is running.

NetWare MultiProtocol Router

1. Copy the AIOZYP.MDC file into SYS:SYSTEM directory.

DOS/Windows

1. Copy the AIOZYP.MDC file into \NET\HSTACC directory.

NOTE: The DOS program DOSDIAL and the Windows program Dialer use these modem description files.

DOSDIAL or the Windows Dialer is also used to configure the parameters for using asynchronous connections; these parameters include the currently selected modem. This information is saved in the NET.CFG file, also used by other client network programs.

Modem types in the AIOZYP.MDC file

Zypcom Z-Series (Z32b, Z32t, Z34)

SE Dial and 2 wire Leased Line
SX Dial and 2 wire Leased Line
SXL Dial and 4 wire Leased Line
RX Dial and 4 wire Leased Line

If you want to use RX or SXL modem on a 2 wire Leased Line select a SX version of the modem in the configuration.
